Luisa Berghammer’s exhibition not-me at Kevin focuses on the shifting status of objects as they move through different systems of production and display. Engaging the prop as a form that drifts between function and fiction, she traces how objects transition from tools of use to carriers of meaning. Borrowed from a prop rental service and re-situated within the art space, these materials reveal how context, framing, and institutional structures shape what becomes visible – or legible – as an artwork, a prop, or a readymade.

Rather than stabilizing an object’s identity, the exhibition follows its slippages: how it is classified, regulated, or authored as it circulates across infrastructures. Through these subtle shifts, Berghammer examines the linguistic and spatial economies that govern attention, proposing display itself as an active field where value and interpretation are negotiated.

Luisa Berghammer is an artist currently based in Vienna, where she studied Stage Design and Fine Arts. Working in the media of video, sculpture and text, she is interested in the terms and conditions of contemporary (artistic) production, distribution, and reception. Luisa often derives her material from the surplus and the vacancies arising from discrepancies; discrepancies between a product and its manufacturing conditions, between a concept and its execution, between collectivity and the ego. Her practice is shaped by the desire for a critically revised approach to autonomy.
